ICT in the classroom

                                                   Teachers demonstration

                                                                      Reflection

The attendance of online learners has increased compared to the previous month. The Reasons could be due to recent survey carried out by the school which addressed the problems of individual students.  The topic that I have chosen for this time was teaching of high frequency words. I made a short video clip and sent it to students. My clip was simply to read that particular word with correct pronunciation. It was between 9 am till 10.30 am. I asked all my students to stay online during the above given time. At least 60 percent of the students were online. I posted the video along with the voice instruction and they sent me voice message reading that particular word. I found that most of my students were excited to read those words online in the common forum. I also learned that there were few students who couldn’t read as per the given instruction.

There were few students who did not want to respond despite of my repeated instruction. Over all I am not satisfied with my lesson. I learned that we- chat is not appropriate to teach reading and I wanted to switch to zoom meeting in the next class to teach reading for class pp students

Education has never been more challenging than in today’s pandemic time. The covid 19  has resulted in schools shut all across the world. Globally, over 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom. As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e- learning, where by teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms. Going through the situation and access of service, we-chat became the prime target in achieving the planned strategic plan. Therefore, the primary teachers had rampantly used we-chat group in teaching the lesson. The uneducated parents had also found we-chat user-friendly, in a way every teacher’s targeted plan became versatile and contrived packet. Every online lesson imparted was responded well except one or two children who were devoid of smart phones.

Lalani(2020) found out that the online learning has shown in increase retention of information, and take less time, meaning the changes corona virus have caused might be here to stay. Reimers (2020) states, “Online methods will make schools fit for working in safe environment.” Daniel (2020) states, “In ramping up capacity to teach remotely, schools and colleges should take advantage of asynchronous learning, which works best in digital format.” After moving with the online lesson, the educators had also realized that it weighs certain pros while adhering to standards that we know support impactful programming looking into current scenario of students’ progress.

On 20 of September I taught the lesson for class six English topic Elements of short story and the story title: The clever Jackel. The ICT aids used during my lesson was we-chat forum, videos from the internet, clicked pictures of short story from the library book, laptops and mobile phones. I Google the video of my short story from the internet. To further supplement my story. I shared the video on we-chat of the students. After that I gave them examples of elements of the short story from the self instructional material (SIM) which is provided by the ministry. After making them clear with the concept of the features of the short story, I gave them another story. They were provided with format to fill up elements of short story.

I knew that my lesson was successful because the response I received was good. I was satisfied with my previous lesson and I provided them with extended activity too.

Thank you.
